Quick answers

Can I give a kitten cow's milk?

No. It upsets their stomachs. Use kitten milk replacer from a vet or pet shop.

When does a kitten need vaccines?

Your vet will give you a schedule. A common one starts at 6 to 8 weeks, with boosters every 3 to 4 weeks until about 16 weeks, and rabies from around 14 to 16 weeks. Then boosters a year later.

When can a cat be neutered?

Kittens can be safely spayed or neutered from about 2 months old, once they weigh around 1 kg. Ask your vet what they recommend. More in Spaying and neutering, explained.

Do I really need window netting?

Yes. Cats fall from windows and balconies, and the injuries can be serious. Net every window and balcony your cat can reach.

Is adopting through The Bombay Cats free?

Always. No one should ask you for money. If they do, report the listing.

Where the quick answers come from

Every guide here is a draft until a vet has reviewed it. They're general information, not a diagnosis.
